We had a trip back in the late 1980’s to New York and had arranged a day trip into the city to celebrate the laying of a foundation stone by Kev’s great grandad for the Empire State Building. Kev had purchased a state of the art camera to capture this ocassion and off we set.

We found the foundation stone and started clicking, from there we went to Wall Street, then Battery Park - click, click. On to the Port Authority and a Circle Line  boat trip ariund the city - Statue of Liberty, Staten Island, Ellis Island, United Nations building, Chrysler Building, Brooklyn Bridge - click, click.

On to Central Park and a horse and carriage trip round the Park - click, click and finally to a well deserved lunch and more importantly a pint in Sardi’s to revel in a mornings work well done.
Kev was chuffed with his new camera and the number of fabulous pictures he had taken.
After lunch we drove back to Al Wallers in our rent-a-wreck, a 1960’s Oldsmobile and a final picture of the car in the drive - a real classic.

On settling down in the garden for an evening beer and to celebrate a job well done Kev decided to take the film out of the camera only to find there was none in it. Totally distraught i never saw that camera again.

The upside was that I had also taken a camera and replicated many of the shots, so not a total disaster.
